Looking Forward to 2009

Since Christmas I've been wondering around the internet kinda lost in space...you know going from one site to another, one blog takes you to another blog found lots of great blogs! So maybe I want to change my course in life? Make another New Years resolution? Do I sound confused..oh yes I am! My husband thinks it is the after Christmas let down, well maybe.

I don't want to make another New Year's resolution...what to lose weight,it's not happened in the past and only makes me miserable. Maybe this is the year I'll get organized - I keep trying but have not been able to give up my treasures and I don't want too! Many of the blogs I've visited are to showcase beautiful crafts the owner makes, maybe I'll start crafting again. Let's see I've had everything to make a mosaic table for my back porch for about 2 years. Painting supplies and patterns to start painting again, especially want to learn to paint roses, the paint is probably dried up by now! Plastic bins in basement filled with all kinds of craft supplies but never used. Is it just me or do others have problems with motivation?

Think I'll just show you some pictures of my favorite things in 2008. Pictures of my garden always relax me.

And Felix and Happi make me happy!

And here is the love of my life after Christmas dinner!

I feel better already.

Something Pink to Share!

This is Felix our shabby cottage kitty. He had an infected foot and the vet put a pretty pink bandage on it! He wasn't really very happy being kept house bound while he healed.

Felix was our neighbors kitty but they had a fire at their house and moved away but Felix kept coming back to the burned out house so we adopted him. My husband named him Felix. I guess he's been part of the family for about 3 or 4 years now and he's pretty much the boss around here!! He even pushes our yellow lab Happi around!

Here's another picture of him sleeping on the back of the sofa. What a life he has!

Pink Saturdays is hosted by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. Check out her blog for a list of everyone who is participating this week. I'm starting to look for something pink for next week. See you then.

Flea Market Friday

Yesterday I was having computer problems the darn thing kept freezing! I finally gave up and shut everything down. So I didn't get anything listed for Flea Market Friday...sorry.

Today I had plans; lunch with my sister at Olive Garden, take shoes back to Kohl's, make deposit at bank, mail Ebay package, finish gift shopping for 4 more people, shop for cookie making supplies, and pick up meds for colonoscopy. It poured rain here today so I had to take an umbrella, never a fun thing to do. The shoes were right by the door so I won't forget them well I forgot them! Got to the bank but forgot to make copies of checks (which I need to send to treasure of company I do work for) thank goodness the teller was nice and make copies for me. Lunch was good - soup, salad, bread sticks and raspberry cheesecake. That is the best cheesecake! Well I guess everything else when OK but now I'm wondering why I scheduled a colonoscopy two days before Christmas.

Well I'd better go and take pictures of my "pink things" for tomorrow. Bye

Yes I Do Believe In Santa

Just finished watching Mircle on 34th Street the 1994 version and it is wonderful! I think it's just as good as the film made in 1947. It made me laugh and cry a little but mostly it made me feel good! The movie took me back to when I was young and the magic of Christmas. Yes I believed in Santa until I was about 12...can you believe that! Of course being the oldest of 5 children there was no one older to tell me otherwise and one year I heard Santa on the roof and his bells jingling! Years later we found out that it was our neighbor pretending to be Santa. It's so good to remember happy childhood times. If you get a change try watching Mircle on 34th Street. Bye for now!

A Pretty Little Christmas Blog Party

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by my Shabby Cottage today for the party! The tea water is hot and there are some home made cookies that Aunt Shirl baked. Sit awhile and enjoy!!

Go to Heather's blog "Pretty Petals" for a list of all the parties to attend!

This is the wreath I just made for my front door. The handpainted Mr & Mrs Santa came from a church sale (really can get some great buys at church sales)and the two reindeer from a garage sale. The deer don't stand but are perfect on a wreath.

We are now in my entry way and this Santa I've had for about 15 years and bought him at a craft show and fell in love! He has not been out for Christmas in a long time so he is very happy to be part of this years festivities.

Here is the fireplace mantle in the dining room all decked out in Hallmark musical snowmen. I've never put them all on the mantle before but I think they look nice. What do you think?

I've had a lot of small Santa, knee hugger & such and decided to put them in this footed bowl.

Here are a few other decorations!

I hope you've had a wonderful time visiting my "Shabby Cottage" and please stop back again soon! Happy Holidays!

My First Pink Saturday

This is my first Pink Saturday and I'm happy to show you some of my "things" that are pink! The pink rose is from my garden this year...really beautiful! I made the Christmas tree a few years ago and it mostly has pink decorations. The ornaments are silver with pink rose decals and the pink pearls came from a vintage necklace.

These vintage pink glass ornaments are very fragile. Nothings more
beautiful than a vintage ornament.

Please stop over at Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound and see
everyone who is joining in the fun for Pink Saturday.

Flea Market Friday

Hello Friday!! Friday has always been a great day-the end of the work week-beginning of the weekend and now "Flea Market Friday". There are new goodies in my "Ebay Store"
please stop in and take a look.

When I found the two embroidered pillowcase tubes I thought they were each a set of pillowcases. Yes they are but I'd have to cut and hem them. These will look wonderful on your cottage bed as a bolster, just stuff with a long pillow.

There are five of these Vera poinsettia Christmas napkins.

A Few Christmas Decorations

It's been slow getting started but I've put up a few Christmas decorations. It's hard to know whats in all those plastic bins in my basement some are Christmas decorations and others are ... I don't know. I believe they have been multiplying just like those old wire hangers use to do!! Here are a few pictures.

This hand painted Santa is about 3 feet tall and he's standing right by my front door. Found him this summer at a estate sale. I have a collection of Santas (all in those bins) starting from about 20 years ago but have not collected lately but could not resist this guy!

Until I took this picture I didn't realize how scary he looks!

Put this on the door in my kitchen. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

Friday Flea Market

Hope everyone has had a wonderful week! I've decided to decorate for Christmas. Since my children are grown and live in other states we don't see them at Christmas time so decorating my home has not been a priority for me. Well I've been wondering around in blogland again and have found some fantastic blogs that show homes decorated for Christmas! I've been inspired to decorate so this afternoon I'll start and share pictures with you. I have decorations that havn't been used in probably 9 or more years...this should be fun!
First here are some things in my Ebay store.

Found this Christmas bell at a church sale. It plays "Silent Night" and is a great collectible probably from the 50's.

These ornaments were made for S.S. Kresge Company and manufacured in West Germany. There are 12 vintage glass ornaments hand painted and with glitter.

Here's a vintage Fenton milk glass ruffled basket.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my treasures and stop back to see my Shabby Cottage decorated for Christmas!
