My Trip to Beaver Falls PA

Last Friday my sister and I went to Beaver Falls PA to check out the antique stores. Beaver Falls is about 45 miles from where I live in Pittsburgh. It was a very nice day the temp was in the 40's and it felt like spring! We found out the antique mall we had gone to explore closed two years ago but we did find the Antique Emporium which has 75 dealer booths on 3 floors. The owner is Jim Moore, he is very knowledgable and loves to talk about all the great stuff in his store! I made this video on www.animoto.com with pictures of the store and it was free to make. Short but sweet!

Crepe Paper Flowers

This picture is of handmade crepe paper roses from Josephine's Journal  !

It's Saturday or should I say "PINK PINK PINK" Saturday! Thinking about what Pink I would share with you I decided everyone might enjoy the info I've been gathering on Crepe Paper Flowers. The February issue of "Romantic Homes" has an article on making crepe paper flowers. It mentioned to find patterns search the internet and I found alot more info than just patterns.

In the early 1900 women would make crepe paper roses, irises, sweet peas and morning glories several months before Memorial Day or Decoration Day, as it was called then, for the decoration of the family graves. If you would like to read the rest of this article and learn more about making crepe paper flowers click on my keep and share site. I enjoyed learning the history of crepe paper flower making and hope you enjoy the articles also.

I also went on Ebay and found two book on How to Make Crepe Paper Flowers published by Dennison Manufacturing Company one is from 1929 and the other 1948. Just received them today and there are directions for making beautiful flowers. Now I'm looking for the crepe paper and plan on making some pink roses! They will be the show and tell for another Pink Saturday.

Also found some crepe paper flower kits at Michaels that are made by Martha Stewart. They were on sale but I still paid way too much for them but at least I'll get to play this weekend. Bye for now, Esther

Friday Flea Market!!

First I have to share my excitement...there is a estate sale today! WOW it's been so long since I've been to one and it's a two day sale Friday and Saturday. Love going on a Friday usually not as busy as a Saturday. DH has already mentioned that because it's so cold no one should go outside unless it's necessary. Well after DH heads off to work I'm on my way... this is necessary to my sanity!! I'll let you know what goodies I find.

Here are some things for Friday Flea Market. You can find them at my new website. It's only been a few week since I've started my website so I don't have alot listed yet. It's a work in progress!

This teapot is Fiesta by Home Laughlin China Co.

Floral dish was made in Bavaria Germany

This tea cup is hugh! 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" It's signed on the bottom

made in Japan only it's backwards. No sure if that means anything.

Stop by Friday Flea Market and visit all the shops that are listed. Really some wonderful things to see !

Good Advise For All of Us!

Received this email today and thought it would be good to share with all of you. Even if you've read it before it can never hurt to read again. Enjoy!

There's some mighty fine advice in these words, even if you're not superstitious. This Lotus Touts symbolizes good luck from the Anthony Robbins organization. It has been sent around the world ten times so far.

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their
conversational skills will be as important as any other.
THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
FOUR.
When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
FIVE. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.
SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams
don't have much.
NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the
only way to live life completely.
TEN. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to
answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements
involve great risk.
FIFTEEN. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.
SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for
others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate
steps to correct it.
TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear
it in your voice
TWENTY- ONE. Spend some time alone.
