A Gardeners Work is Never Done

Yesterday was only in the 50's here but a very good day to work in the garden.  I had gathered these rocks along the roadside and yesterday placed them in my garden.  This is in the front of my house and the dirt has been moving down the hill (since I've been killing the honeysuckle that invade my plants).  I'm hoping the rocks will help keep the soil in place.  I think it looks pretty good...only need about 5 more loads of free rocks!

This is looking down from the top all that green on bottom is honeysuckle which was here since we moved in 20 years ago.  The honeysuckle does a good job of holding the hillside in place and it smells good when blooming but I would love to have that 40 ft of hillside as garden space!  I can't do the hillside myself and it will cost way too much to have a landscaper do it...so I just do what I can.

There are a few more flowers blooming now.

These are Lily of the Valley from my Mom's yard.  She had a huge patch of growing under a big maple tree that were there forever.  Wonder if they are still growing there...the house sold to a young guy he probably didn't appreciate them!

The  daffodils bulbs I planted the being of March are starting to bloom!

These are pretty yellow iris - they only grown about 8" tall and bloom several times during the summer.

I better do something else today besides play on the computer....have a great day!

  2. It is looking very pretty. I really enjoy Spring when everything is coming back to life.
I hope the new owner was sensible enough to keep the Lily of the Valley.
I hope you have a very Happy Easter.

  3. You are certainly right when you say a gardener's work is never done - and - there's always something new to learn, isn't there?
Pretty spring flowers. I have let the lily-of-the-valley run where it will here and unfortunately, it is becoming invasive.
