Are you looking for a list of negative calorie foods? These are the foods that actually take more energy to consume than the calories they contain, so it's easy to understand why anyone who wants to lose weight would be going for these types of foods.<br />
<br />
Here is a short list of negative calorie foods--some of them may surprise you:
<br />
<br />
Celery,
Grapefruit,
Watermelon,
Lettuce,
Cauliflower,
Oranges,
Apples,
Strawberries,
Tomatoes, Cucumbers,
Apricots,
Zucchini,
Tangerines,
Carrots,
Hot Chili Peppers
<br />
<br />
The other great thing about negative calorie foods such as those in the list above is that they actually use calories from other sources in your body in order to be digested. So, eating these calorie burners should definitely be included in any weight loss plan.<br />
<br />
Keep in mind that when your body runs out of energy from carbohydrate sources, the next place it looks for energy is in your fat. This is one way to get rid of excess fat in your body and this is how negative calorie types of food help you lose weight and maintain the weight that you eventually achieve. <br />
<br />
In general, negative calorie foods come from fruits and vegetables as listed above. Other examples include pineapple, papaya, peach, honeydew and cantaloupe. These are beneficial because of their negative calorie properties and because they hold strong detox properties. Other vegetables include broccoli, green beans, asparagus and carrots. Celery is especially worthy because t only holds 10% of the amount of calories required to digest this vegetable, so the remaining 90% has to come from somewhere else, like your fat stores.
<br />
<br />
To get the best results from these types of foods, remember to alternate eating them with other healthy proteins, carbohydrates, whole wheat products and those which contain a lot of fiber. While you may enjoy eating these foods for a while, you can easily tire of them so don't go overboard. Choose one or two a day to substitute into a meal or snack. A diet limited to only these foods could lead to malnutrition. However, when it comes to snack times, these choices are real winners. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGzHPTvk2rtciXMV-zvr5iG2VOnYrAuzxljia_L8wumVrgvmv6EZobF82DW1Hd8qz2dmfn-Gcq_peZLrhaWCxWZAXtG-0FdeHvcvxBdClGHJR7s5goU0B8KTsMAFq2pq7Gx1Ct3cmXJs5Q/s1600/zerocalories2015-06-15_1852.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGzHPTvk2rtciXMV-zvr5iG2VOnYrAuzxljia_L8wumVrgvmv6EZobF82DW1Hd8qz2dmfn-Gcq_peZLrhaWCxWZAXtG-0FdeHvcvxBdClGHJR7s5goU0B8KTsMAFq2pq7Gx1Ct3cmXJs5Q/s320/zerocalories2015-06-15_1852.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Also remember that losing weight isn't just about what you eat or don't eat. Another important key to dropping pounds is regular activity. This part scares many people because they envision themselves having to enroll in a gym or to go running for an hour every day.
<br />
<br />
Regular activity should be something that you can maintain throughout your life so it should be something that you look forward to doing (or, at the very least, that you don't dread doing). Also, regular doesn't mean "every day". It means "consistent". One easy type of regular exercise is walking. Taking a 20 to 30 minute walk three to four times every week would be considered regular activity.
<br />
<br />
Combining the list of negative calorie foods with a healthy, well-balanced diet and consistent activity will get you where you want to be with your weight!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
One of my greatest problems with the control of my weight is the fact that so much self discipline is needed to achieve any tangible results. Ah, but I hear you saying, "What's new about that" We all have that problem! Tell us something new!
<br />
<br />
Well yes we do all know that that is the biggest problem is it not. Lets face it, eating is one of life's greatest pleasures, and we would be pretty abnormal if this was otherwise.
<br />
<br />
After all, most of us are "regular" people. How many of us stick to the perfect diet all the time, we all have our struggles with food to a greater or lesser extent. If we can recognize an awareness of this problem, and also make a point of knowing a little bit about our health, and also proper food nutrition, we are then much more likely to make wiser decisions about our choices of food.<br />
<br />
Many people struggle with food "cravings," and research tells us that it is fairly common for food "cravings" to occur at certain times, quite often around bedtime. Your guard may be down, or you may have had an unusually hard day, and off you go on your not-so-merry way, intent on finding that tasty treat. Fatigue and stress often combine to take their toll on the best of intentions, so please don't worry about it, rest assured you are not alone. <br />
<br />
When food "cravings" are out of control, what started out as a bedtime snack, quickly turns into a full blown feeding frenzy...not something most of us fully understand or appreciate. We head to the kitchen and every other possible place where food can hide, quickly clearing a path as we go.<br />
<br />
Most food cravings are not about satisfying a nutritional need or imbalance. They seem to be more emotionally related, or God forbid, are caused by plain old gluttony. Exactly why we over-indulge is not completely understood, however our knowledge about this subject continues to grow. <br />
<br />
These Are Some Of My Thoughts On How To Control Food Cravings. <br />
<br />
If the food isn't available, you can't eat it. Empty the cookie jar and keep it that way! Keep healthy food choices on-hand.
<br />
<br />
It is important to recognize the feelings and emotions that will lead to a food craving. Do you have food cravings when you’re bored, or maybe you are feeling lonely, or is it stress that is the trigger. If you can identify the trigger which leads to that craving, then you are half way to winning the battle, because you will be able to deal with the emotion that is making you desire a certain food. <br />
<br />
Sometimes, even recognizing that a craving is about to happen doesn't seem to help, but please do not give yourself a hard time about it, what is done is done, do not feel guilty because after all there is always tomorrow. Why not call one of your friends and share how you were feeling at that time, because it is a very good idea to make good use of your support network.
Join my free weight loss group: <a href="http://goo.gl/o9o4Xy">http://goo.gl/o9o4Xy</a><br />
<br />
Self-control and discipline by themselves will not cut it! If you depend totally on yourself for control, you will fail. Forming caring and supportive relationships is really essential, so if you do not currently have a support network, start building one TODAY. <br />
<br />
Get enough sleep. When you are feeling really tired, you are more likely to crave things, and with me personally, it is usually chocolate, possibly you are the same.
<br />
<br />
Never give up. When you go off the rails, do not despair, get a grip, do whatever is necessary to re-gain control, because you really must get that control back. Try to practice restraint most of the time, but do not get obsessed and un-balanced in your weight loss approach. Think moderation and not total abstinence at all times!<br />
<br />
Exercise. This will increase the feel good endorphins that will help cut down on your cravings. Try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. I hear so many people say that they just cannot fit in any exercise, believe me you can, we are talking about 30 minutes here, at the worst, it will mean you will have to get out of bed that bit earlier.
<br />
<br />
An early morning brisk walk will do wonders for the spirit and the soul, and will help set you up for the rest of the day!
<br />
<br />
Use moderation. Instead of stuffing yourself with every kind of food hoping that your cravings will disappear, eat 100 to 200 calories of whatever it is that you happen to be craving for at that particular moment in time, but you must stop it at that! <br />
<br />
Substitute with low-fat foods and complex carbs. If you’re hungry for chocolate, eat non-fat chocolate yogurt or mousse, or try fig bars or raisins for a sweet craving instead. You will be amazed at how this will help. <br />
<br />
You must try and never skip a meal. It is much wiser to eat something if even only an apple, every three to five hours. Try six smaller meals, or regular meals with nutritious snacks in between.
Try and remember that hunger cravings are very frequently stress related. Practice other ways to cope with stress, a walk in the park for example, spiritual connections, a cozy fireplace, or even take a bath. You see, all of these stimulate neurochemicals that activate regions of the brain which increases a feeling of well being. Relaxation techniques really can be beneficial in reducing the levels of stress which you may be experiencing. <br />
<br />
So the bottom line is to try and substitute pleasurable experiences for comfort foods.<br />
<br />
Beware of certain medications which can stimulate your appetite. Certain drugs which are used for the treatment of depression and bipolar disorder can be appetite stimulants. Other drugs, both prescription and over the counter, may influence appetite as well. If you are on a medication and troubled by food cravings, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist. You may well be able to find an alternative that doesn't send your food cravings out of control.<br />
<br />
Distract yourself. What's that old expression...idle hands are the devils workshop, so get busy! Do anything other than give in to your desire for food, and keep doing it until the cravings subside. <br />
<br />
One final thought for you. Take a look inside your refrigerator and kitchen cabinets and do some general "house cleaning." Throw-out all that unhealthy stuff that is waiting to sabotage your diet, and start shopping more wisely. A little forethought and careful planning will go a long way for improving your chances of success. <br />
<br />
One of my golden rules is that I NEVER go shopping when I am hungry! Absolutely fatal!
<br />
<br />
So to conclude, remember that control is the key, eat healthily and in moderation at all times, but do not forget that at the end of the day you are only human. If you do give in to temptation, don't beat yourself up about it, tomorrow is another day, live long, enjoy your life, and most of all be happy!
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Warm hugs,

I have not been sharing my weight loss journey but decided to start posting about it. March 1st was my start day and as of today I've lost 30 pounds! I'd like to lose faster but that is not happening.
It seems that at my age things have really slowed down... no metabolism. I have been using a product call Skinny Fiber that helps to control my hunger and it has worked amazingly well. I've not been about to control my eating for about 15 years this is the first time I've been able to follow an eating plan longer than a week! I'm trying to eat low carb, no sugar and no wheat. Not eating bread is hard! I would really love to have a ruben! <br />

Warm hugs,<br />

<br />
History Memorial Day
While Veterans' Day in November is to honor all those who served their nation in war, Memorial Day is primarily to honor those who died in military service. This all-American holiday has its roots in unexpected places.
<br />
<br />
Commander in Chief John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic issued the 1868 proclamation declaring the first Decoration Day. He credited his wife, Mary Logan, with the suggestion for the commemoration.
<br />
<br />
But the idea had earlier roots, going back at least to 1864. <br />
<br />
In 1865, a group of 10,000 freed slaves in South Carolina along with a few white supporters -- teachers and missionaries -- marched in honor of Union soldiers, some of whom had been Confederate prisoners, reburied by the freed black Charlestonians. The prisoners had been buried in a mass grave when they died at the prison.
<br />
<br />
The acknowledged and more direct root of Decoration Day was the practice of women of decorating the graves of their loved ones who had died in the Civil War. Memorial Day was celebrated on May 30 after 1868; since 1971 it is celebrated on the last Monday in May, though a few states have kept to the May 30 date.
<br />
<br />
In addition to the Charleston march and a long practice of both Union and Confederate supporters decorating the graves of their own, a particular even seems to have been a key inspiration. On April 25, 1866, in Columbus, Mississippi, a women's association decorated the graves of both Union and Confederate soldiers.
<br />
<br />
In a nation trying to find a way to move on after a war that split the country, states, communities and even families, this gesture was welcomed as a way to lay the past to rest while honoring those who had fought on either side.
<br />
<br />
The first formal observance seems to have been on May 5, 1866, in Waterloo, New York -- President Lyndon Johnson recognized this as the "Birthplace of Memorial Day."<br />
<br />
On May 30, 1870, General Logan gave an address in honor of the new commemorative holiday. In it he said: "This Memorial Day, on which we decorate their graves with the tokens of love and affection, is no idle ceremony with us, to pass away an hour; but it brings back to our minds in all their vividness the fearful conflicts of that terrible war in which they fell as victims.... Let us, then, all unite in the solemn feelings of the hour, and tender with our flowers the warmest sympathies of our souls! Let us revive our patriotism and love of country by this act, and strengthen our loyalty by the example of the noble dead around us...."

Three years ago I was bit by a tick and have been on and off antibiotics ever since. Unfortunately my MD did not know about tick bites and sent me on my way to see what happens. Well many things happened including heart problems, vertigo, joint pain, eye pain, headaches, and many other things. The best way to not get Lyme Disease is prevention! <br />

<em><b>PLEASE, PLEASE remember right now the nymph (babies) ticks are out!!
So when you are outside whether you are hiking, playing in the yard, gardening,
camping or even at a local park do a tick check when you come home. Here are
some tips I would suggest too…these are cheap products that can help.</b></em><br />
<em><b><br /></b></em>
1. Wear some kind of hat<br />
2. Wear light colored clothing so that you can see the ticks<br />
3. Cover any or all exposed areas such as your ankles, arms, & legs. Ticks
love the warmer spots like your Ears, armpits, groin, etc. I know it can be hot
to wear long clothes in the spring/summer so if you prefer there are products
that help protect from ticks such as…<br />
<br />
A. Permethrin Spray, this is good through 6 washes of clothing-<a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/21947774?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227022234839&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40968437432&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78911591192&veh=sem" target="_blank" title="Permethrin Spray">http://www.walmart.com/ip/21947774?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227022234839&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40968437432&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78911591192&veh=sem</a><br />
<a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/21947774?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227022234839&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40968437432&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78911591192&veh=sem" target="_blank" title="Permethrin Spray"><br /></a>
<strong>B.</strong> Spray with DEET to apply to the skin- <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Woods-Sportsman-Insect-Repellent/dp/B000WOU414" target="_blank" title="Spray with DEET">http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Woods-Sportsman-Insect-Repellent/dp/B000WOU414</a><br />
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Woods-Sportsman-Insect-Repellent/dp/B000WOU414" target="_blank" title="Spray with DEET"><br /></a>
<strong>C.</strong> Natural spray is also good for kids and if you don’t
want the chemicals on your skin is- <a href="http://www.google.com/shopping/product/5192824551280969911?lsf=seller:7960,store:2059309246457266924&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KEQjwpM2pBRChsZCzm_CU0t4BEiQAxDVFmpThkCqNZ0rSyGtMxOebp_boiD5ywDO6EfLNmIB9_SYaAkTe8P8HAQ&ei=-7gzVeyCCYmegwSb7YHIDg&hl=en&l%20">http://www.google.com/shopping/product/5192824551280969911?lsf=seller:7960,store:2059309246457266924&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KEQjwpM2pBRChsZCzm_CU0t4BEiQAxDVFmpThkCqNZ0rSyGtMxOebp_boiD5ywDO6EfLNmIB9_SYaAkTe8P8HAQ&ei=-7gzVeyCCYmegwSb7YHIDg&hl=en&lsft=gclid:Cj0KEQjwpM2pBRChsZCzm_CU0t4BEiQAxDVFmpThkCqNZ0rSyGtMxOebp_boiD5ywDO6EfLNmIB9_SYaAkTe8P8HAQ,gclsrc:aw.ds&prds=oid:3487776867837259213</a>;<br />
<br />
<strong>D.</strong> For your lawn there are many different things you can
do. Remember ticks love the to hang by the edges of your yard and walking
paths. They HATE the Sun but LOVE the shade so putting things like your kids
swing set in the shade isn’t the best idea. Here are a few products to
help- <a href="http://www.tickencounter.org/prevention/protect_your_yard" target="_blank" title="Yard Prevention">http://www.tickencounter.org/prevention/protect_your_yard</a><br />
<a href="http://www.tickencounter.org/prevention/protect_your_yard" target="_blank" title="Yard Prevention"><br /></a>
<strong>E.</strong> Don’t forget about your pets! Use a pet product on them
to help prevent ticks as well. Remember to check them when they come inside and
one of the best things I can tell you as well. Do not allow them to sleep in
bed with you at night. I’ve had many people with stories of ticks transferring
from their pets onto them- <a href="http://www.1800petmeds.com/Flea+++Tick+Prevention-cat50.html" target="_blank" title="Pet Prevention ">http://www.1800petmeds.com/Flea+++Tick+Prevention-cat50.html</a><br />
<a href="http://www.1800petmeds.com/Flea+++Tick+Prevention-cat50.html" target="_blank" title="Pet Prevention "><br /></a>
<strong>F.</strong> When Hunting there is a Tick prevention suit and
clothing you can wear. In fact my Father In-law uses one and says it works
great!- <a href="http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search.cmd?form_state=searchForm&N=0&fsch=true&Ntk=AllProducts&Ntt=Tick+prevention+clothes&x=10&y=6&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products" target="_blank" title="Tick Prevention Clothing">http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search.cmd?form_state=searchForm&N=0&fsch=true&Ntk=AllProducts&Ntt=Tick+prevention+clothes&x=10&y=6&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products</a><br />

Looking back at 2013 some of it was not very good. Not sure why I have a hard time blogging about difficult times in my life...but I do. Thinking about it now it may have something to do with wanting to have people accept and like me. Good grief I think I'm in a therapy session! <br />
<br />
In January 2013 I started a new eating plan to lose weight by March I'd lost 15 pounds. One day towards the end of March I told my husband that I felt better then I had for a long time. Then that very same night an ambulance had to come and take me to the hospital with vertigo so bad I could not stand or move. Doc's could not find why I had vertigo...I asked could it be my Lyme Disease and they said no. Well I finally went to a doctor who specializes in Lyme Disease and have been on antibiotics since April. I think it has helped me but still have some symptoms. Needless to say I gained the 15 pounds back...plus more!<br />
<br />
In June the non-profit I work for (from home) told me they would have to lower the amount they paid me they just did not have the funds to continue with the original amount and they would let me know in November. My contract was up in December and they decided to make changes to my job description some of which I was not willing to do so now I have no part-time job.<br />
<br />
I did post last year about all the bins I have full of treasures to sell on Ebay <a href="http://shabbycottagecollectibles.blogspot.com/2013/03/vintage-treasures-bin-1.html" target="_blank">(see post)</a> That is the only bin I got listed so there are many more to list that can help make up some of the money I've lost from the part-time job. Plus I'm going to sell some crafts I make.<br />
<br />

<br />
In August my husband went to the emergency room and had congestive heart failure and a-fib. He had been on medication for this for about 4 years but for some reason he went back into a-fib and his heart was not pumping like it should and that's why he had congestive heart failure. He is doing better now but the doc's are waiting to see if his heart starts to pump better...if not they will give him a defibrillator and maybe a pacemaker. It's not easy getting old! Now on to<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSFxjNNJkPoAj_QRGuTYUy3HX0bS_Qc4i-fYLwhnsE-NQ9VjZg0ejJxOtNhGW_KZgEMclF-WzuN9jEFWmQYPz59Q2qBsA41HJ8LtCLThyphenhyphenZtkjkDLQwAGmv-LnPXPofye0D2pJqq3c65MC2/s1600/2014-01-05_1504.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSFxjNNJkPoAj_QRGuTYUy3HX0bS_Qc4i-fYLwhnsE-NQ9VjZg0ejJxOtNhGW_KZgEMclF-WzuN9jEFWmQYPz59Q2qBsA41HJ8LtCLThyphenhyphenZtkjkDLQwAGmv-LnPXPofye0D2pJqq3c65MC2/s400/2014-01-05_1504.png" width="400" /></a></div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">Some of my thought for this year.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Get on an eating plan and stick to it! </span></div>
